Nissan Terrano Overview
Nissan launched the muscular Terrano SUV in the year 2013 and with that started a new war in one of the highly contested segments of India. With the launch of Terrano, a new compact SUV with a touch of premiumness and masculine approach was on offer. The car did well in the Indian car market and satisfied a large number of buyers. Its diamond cut alloy wheels and wide stance looked quite fancy and attractive and it would not be an exaggeration to say that Terrano is one of the best looking compact SUVs in the segment. After 4 years of gap and the launch of stalwart such as Hyundai Creta in 2015 affected the sales of this hot SUV which let the carmaker to come up with an updated model in 2017. Its 2017 facelift is the first comprehensive update and gets few changes to the exteriors while the interior is the place where it gets the maximum number of changes. The updated model does not feature any mechanical changes. Nissan Terrano in Tryaldrive
Nissan Terrano Design & Look
Dimensionally, Nissan Terrano measures 4.33m in length with a width of 1.83m. Its overall height with the fixed roof rail is 1.67m. The wheelbase of 2.67m adds more to the interior spacing which is already abundant given its incredible height. Nissan Terrano has a ground clearance of 205mm, which is similar to that of Renault Duster, but is an add-on advantage that will keep this SUV going easily on any terrain.
The side profile of Nissan Terrano has angular bold lines which are different from Duster’s curvy lines. The flared wheel-arches make the Terrano look aggressive, distinguishing it from most of Nissan’s models in India. The doors have two horizontal creases in them that enhance the butch look, but it isn’t enough to alleviate the organic lines of the rest of the car. The rear end bears no similarity to any of the Nissan SUVs and it is evident that Nissan has developed a new tail lamp cluster without fiddling too much with the Duster lamps. It gets a chrome garnish to add a premium feel, but the overall appearance is rugged with roof rails and silver skid plates.
The flared up wheel arches of this SUV are endowed with a set of diamond-cut 16” machined light -weight alloy wheels in the top end variants, while the base as well as the mid variants are fitted with similar sized robust steel wheels, which certainly make the SUV look sportier. These classy rims have been further equipped with tubeless radial tyres of size 215/65 R16, which have a superior road grip on any terrain.
The majority of the changes in the 2017 version are given to the cabin. The first difference instantly evident is the new dual toned black and chocolate brown interior theme replacing the earlier beige scheme. The new colour scheme might have been given to hide those dirts and grimes in a better way. Another noticeable aspect or say the most demanding one is the new 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The unit is slick to operate with large icons but in terms of resolution display, it is not the best out there. The system also supports navigation along with the facility of USB, Bluetooth, and Aux-in connectivity. The decibels are offered by 4-speakers. Strangely, contemporary features such as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay has been conspicuously missed out. Even cars below the segment are offering these features.
The Nissan Terrano comes with a different steering wheel than that of Duster with silver finished inserts lending it a more upmarket feel. But this time around, the carmaker has added audio controls on the steering as well as controls for cruising. The driver gets new foldable armrest while the door pads get soft-touch insert. Moreover, the centrally mounted rear ac vents seen in the earlier model has now been replaced by cupholder. Other additional features in the new model include anti-pinch driver-side window, speed limiter, and one-touch turn indicators. The instrument cluster is redesigned which provides a plethora of information such as fuel efficiency, average speed, distance to empty as well as information on liters consumed which is quite unique.
Besides, the Terrano retains all the positives of the cabin. This includes the spacious interiors with utter comfortable seats and the roominess seems to be complementing the new colour scheme. There is enough room for three passengers at the back while the huge trunk is more than enough to dump those large bags you are carrying for longer journeys. In terms of features, the car remains intact with the air conditioner with pollen filter, rear glass washer, lumbar support, and seat height adjustment, 12V socket at both front and rear passengers, trunk room lamp and reading lamps for rear passengers.
